Addressing Race & Racism in Therapy

Please join my colleagues, Drs. Janee Steele & Charmeka Newton, for the live webinar Addressing Race and Racism in Therapy With Black Clients: What Therapists Need to Know on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 2pm - 5pm EST.

Register by clicking here: https://addressing-race-and-racism-in-therapy.eventbrite.com

The effects of race and racism often go unacknowledged by therapists, and many Black clients leave therapy feeling unaffirmed, invalidated, or worse, subjected to various forms of racism and microaggressions within the therapeutic relationship itself. In this webinar, culturally adapted cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is explored as a means to enhance counseling relationships and aid clinical decision-making with Black clients, as we discuss the psychological impacts of racism within the Black community and describe theoretically-based strategies to broach, conceptualize, and address race and racism in therapy with this population.

During this webinar you will learn how to:

* Broach race and racism in therapy with Black clients and build culturally responsive therapeutic relationships
* Conceptualize the role of race and racism in mental health challenges experienced by Black clients
* Develop theoretically-based, culturally sensitive treatment approaches for Black clients

A registration link will be sent to participants the day prior to the event. Participants who attend the webinar will receive 3 CEs. We hope you all can attend.
